New employment specialist joins Leeds Day's Commercial Business Team

With the continuing pressures on businesses due to ever changing employment laws, Leeds Day has decided to meet the growing need for advice, support and representation by expanding its commercial business team with the appointment of specialist employment solicitor Claire Berry.

Claire brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in employment law to offer your business practical employment advice and support so that you can take decisive and effective action.

Claire has experience in advising all types of businesses on all aspects of employment law including:

  • drafting and reviewing employment contracts, consultancy agreements, fixed terms contracts, zero hour contracts, director’s services agreements to ensure that they comply with current practices and that they provide your business with necessary protection;
  • drafting and reviewing all policies and procedures which make up your staff handbook, ensuring that all partied are aware of the rules, policies and procedures that should be complied with;
  • advising on contract, policy and procedure variations to ensure that any changes that you implement are effective and not breach of contract;
  • drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, providing you with the comfort that any employees leaving your business cannot bring any employment related claims;
  • advising on all manner of day to day employment issues including disciplinaries, grievances, capability proceedings, managing sickness absence, redundancies and restructures, providing you with the necessary guidance to ensure that procedures run smoothly and reduce the risk of any potential employment related claims;
  • advising on restrictive covenants and confidential information restrictions to ensure that there is sufficient protection in place; and
  • advising on and defending claims in the Employment Tribunal to reduce any risk of costs or awards being made in the employee’s favour.
